The University of Florida's NICAP
A former lab technician at the McKnight Brain Institute, Hershel Warren Cannon studies neurobiology at the University of Florida. While working toward his undergraduate degree, Hershel Warren Cannon also serves as an intern with the Neuromedicine Interdisciplinary Clinical and Academic Program (NICAP).
The University of Florida currently seeks interns for NICAP. Those interested must submit their applications from October 1-27. The school particularly looks for motivated candidates who are interested in areas of healthcare ranging from administration to clinical service.
Participants in NICAP have the opportunity to become involved in research projects, to work in neurology and neurosurgery clinics, and to assist with administrative services. The rotation between different service areas allows interns to explore the field of medicine and to identify their personal preferences for their subsequent careers.
NICAP focuses on five key areas: preventing all avoidable negative effects, achieving consistency in care, improving patient service, creating a positive environment, and enhancing the overall value of patient service. These five pillars of the internship support the program's mission of providing the highest quality patient care and forming medical professionals with a heart for service.
